A rare, mostly vacant site in the heart of Carlton provided the setting for this luxury residential development.
Two separate street frontages allowed for a series of 17 townhouses, of either two or three storeys, with each having their own street level entry. A commonly accessed basement provides parking for 13 dwellings, with two other dwellings having private parking at street level.
The dwellings are inspired by the terrace house model typical of, and celebrated in the surrounding neighbourhoods, but with a thoroughly contemporary aesthetic. A heritage graded house has been rejuvenated and incorporated into the design; decorative metal panels to balconies provide a reference to the wrought iron ‘lacework’ that defines Victorian city housing in inner Melbourne.
